I’m here sailing around Penobscot Bay. Coastal Maine is one of the most beautiful places in New England. Islands are scattered across the coast, creating a dynamic landscape. Beautiful evergreens line the shores and wildlife is everywhere.
It’s the perfect place to roast hotdogs and marshmallows over a camp fire.
One thing you must do while you are in Maine, or any part of New England really, is have lobster.
If a lobster is too young, they through it back, and if it is too big… they also throw it back. This gives me peace of mind, when I eat lobster here.
Being on the water here is so peaceful. If it is a big boat or just a kayak, getting out on the water is the most important part of being here.
All sorts of boats can be seen on these waters. Everything from 100 year old schooners, to lobster boats. It is a great opportunity to people watch; of course this is usually from a distance. (But that’s the best kind of people watching anyway.)
Here all you need is the open water and some good wine. I find that everywhere is made just a little sweeter with good wine. Coastal Maine and Penobscot Bay are no exception.
