Prêt-à-Portea, The Berkeley

Probably one of the most quintessentially English of pastimes, sought-after afternoon tea services are served daily across London.

Whilst a classic ‘Afternoon Tea’ usually comprises of finger sandwiches, warm scones and some Earl Grey, The Berkeley Hotel has embraced a new concept all together.

‘Prêt-à-Portea,’ (a play on the clothing term prêt-à-porter, obviously) takes inspiration from seasonal trends showcased at London Fashion Week to create unique culinary indulgences. A fabulous afternoon for any fashionista.

These photos show S/S 2015 – a stunning Giambatista Valli pink sponge and the most adorable Anya Hindmarch Big Eyes tote. Previous features have included Burberry’s trench and Manolo Blahnik heels.

The tea is different too with Luscious Lemon and Gorgeous Ginger. Then, of course, there is the essential glass (or three) of champagne. This is probably the most appropriate way to drink in the afternoon.

Return to the Knightsbridge hotel every 6 months to experience the latest season – I’m already curious for A/W 2015/16 – and once again delight in the chatter and giggles of the lovely ladies in The Caramel Room.

Make your calories beautiful… then don’t eat anything else.
