Ukrainian Cuisine in Soho, NYC – Korchma Taras Bulba

Whether you are looking for a taste of home or a taste of another culture, Korchma Taras Bulba in Soho, NYC is a must

Korchma Taras Bulba is one of my favorite places to get Ukrainian food in Manhattan. Established in 1999, you can find locations in Moscow, Kiev, and right here in NYC.

Whether you are getting pirozhki as take away for a special occasion, or coming here to eat with friends. This restaurant is a must if you love Ukrainian and Russian food… и я люблю русскую кухню!

This restaurant is definitely decorated in the old style. There is farming equipment on the walls, and soviet era decor. Not to mention the waiters who don traditional Ukrainian dress. Some people might feel that this looks like a theme restaurant, but it is defiantly channeling tradition.

This restaurant not only has good food, but a completely charming cocktail menu.  I got The Master and Margarita…. For those of you familiar with Russian literature, this drink will surely give you a chuckle.

The food here is unpretentious and authentic. Ukrainian and Russian locals can always be found enjoying this restaurant, which is a sign that the food must be good.

I ordered red caviar and blini and the vareniki with meat. These are two of the more traditional dishes one can order, but something anyone who wants to expose themselves to Ukrainian or Russian food should try. My choices made for a heavy meal, but I hadn’t eaten all day, so I felt like I could indulge.

If the food doesn’t bring you back, the complementary shot at the end of your meal will.

Now that’s Ukrainian hospitality.

Be Just Not That Way,

Katherine
