Christmas Afternoon Tea at Sketch, London

image

It is impossible to resist London’s array of afternoon teas and Sketch has one of the most unique experiences on offer. A little bit Alice In Wonderland and a little of design heaven, this is an experience you will not find anywhere else.

Pretty pink decor and even prettier pastries greet you as you enter the Gallery. India Mahdavi’s monochromatic pink interiors and copper accents are truly inspired. British artist David Shrigley’s 239 framed tongue-in-cheek sketches adorn the walls and his designs carried through on to the satirical Caverswall porcelain. We all can do with reminding that sugar is definitely ‘NOT OK.’

Even with all of these touches the pastries remain a highlight. Go with an empty stomach and gorge yourself on Pierre Gagnaire’s white chocolate and passion fruit tarts, appropriately themed Buche de Noel and warm mini paninis wrapped in pink ribbon. The ultimate in Christmas spirit is evoked with a live choir singing christmas carols alongside the bar.

Before you leave to brave the shopping on New Bond Street, head up to the crazy restrooms. Where else can one relieve oneself in a egg-pod under a multi-coloured ceiling?

Bacini,
Cristina
