Last week I stumbled upon the prettiest village just outside of Lenzerheide in Switzerland. Well techically there are three villages: Lain, Muldain and Zorten. They each make up a few roads.
What made this place so unique to me is that it is so far from the commercial environment I live in. It is so calm, serene and untouched… and the views are spectacular.
Lain has a small, beautifully decorated and cared for chapel. The frescoes are enchanting and the ambience is tranquil.
After listening to a BBC Radio 4 Crossing Continents broadcast on the consequence of Greek burials since the economic crisis a few weeks ago I’ve found myself more aware of how different cultures pay respect to their dead. This cemetery left me in awe, not just for the beautiful views, for the beauty in design of the graves and they way they have been respected and cared for.
The cemetery sits adjacent to the church in Zorten.
Then there are the quaint and charming design and decorative details of the homes…
And I’m sure I mentioned the ridiculous view? (Some very lucky residents.)
P.S. More on stunning Switzerland in the next few days.
